Join O’Huids Gaelic Pub for Bottoms Up first Mid-Century Modern Cocktail Competition, where classic drinks from the 1940s–1970s get a creative, modern twist. Inspired by the style, flavor, and nostalgia of the era, competitors will craft original cocktails that celebrate the spirit of mid-century entertaining. The first 40 guests will have the chance to watch the cocktails come to life, sample select entries (while supplies last), and cast their vote for the People’s Choice Award. It’s an interactive, flavorful experience—come sip, explore, and help crown the crowd favorite!
This is an open competition, welcoming everyone from home cocktail enthusiasts to brand managers and both part-time and full-time bartenders. Each competitor will be provided with one bottle of the sponsor’s featured spirit, which must be incorporated into their recipe. To register, submit a well-written cocktail recipe to clark@popescocktails.com by June 5. The Mid-Century Modern Committee will review all submissions and notify selected competitors by June 10. Throughout the event, a panel of three judges will visit each competitor. Judges will observe the cocktail-making process, hear the story behind each creation, and, of course, taste the results. Using judging criteria from the U.S. Cocktail Competition Series, the panel will be led by Clark Pope—an International Bartenders Association–certified judge—alongside members of the United States Bartenders Guild. Prizes will be awarded for People’s Choice, First Place, and Second Place.
