The Tour de Cause is a bicycle tour of Fairfield County, home of the most original covered bridges, benefiting The Recovery Center of Fairfield County. The Lancaster Cause is a non-profit organization committed to raising awareness, organizing fundraising events, and donating to eliminate the harmful effects of heroin and opiate addiction in the community. Choose from four possible rides with varying distances. Ride options include:

  • Family Fun Ride, 10.9 miles. Suggested start 10:30am. Lancaster Bike Trail. Pass the John Bright ll Covered Bridge and go through the McCleery Covered Bridge on your way to the historic Fox Trail. Turn around at Martens Park.
  • Tourister Ride,  19.7 miles. The 20 mile route starts at OU-L campus that includes your first covered bridge and then you heads north out a favorite cycling road to reach the quiet back roads of Fairfield County farm land. You will enjoy rolling terrain as you cycle past multiple family farms. The half way point is in Pleasantville. Your journey back will take you down more quiet back farm roads as you return to the bike path – you will be routed past the start point to cross Fetter’s Run on a covered bridge and then return to OU-L and the finish point.
  • Challenger Ride, 48.6 miles. The 40+ mile route follows the Lancaster Bike Path south where you cross Fetter’s Run on a covered bridge. You leave the bike path onto a quiet road that takes you out of town on a favorite cycling road to reach the quiet back roads of Fairfield County farm land toward your next set of covered bridges. You will enjoy rolling terrain as you cycle past multiple family farms. After visiting the covered bridges on Ireland Rd and at Fairfield Union schools you head to Pleasantville. Heading out of Pleasantville you will enjoy the gently rolling farm lands of northern Fairfield County. You will travel down Canal Rd. through Baltimore to visit your next covered bridge before heading south to Lancaster and back to the starting point.
  • Adventurer Ride,  75.3 miles. The 70 mile route follows the 40+ mile route to the 30 mile marker where you will wind east and north to Millersport where the 5th covered bridge in the Sweetcorn Festival grounds. You then head west through the very gently rolling farm country of western Fairfield County – enjoy this because you are headed to some larger hills. Between Baltimore and the Lockville is the sixth covered bridge on Basil Rd. Arriving in Lockville park, enjoy the covered bridge and canal lock system. After your break, you head southeast and you will see a much more rural countryside. You will visit the Hornsmill covered bridge that includes the restored mill and county park. You wind back to rural roads where your join the 20 and 40+ routes and back in Lancaster and back to the starting point.
