Description
Johns Trail Bike Path offers a quiet, scenic escape right in the heart of Amanda, following the path of a historic rail bed. This charming stretch provides a smooth, accessible route for walkers, runners, and cyclists of all ages. Though currently a shorter segment that connects the west end of Amanda to School Street on the north end of the village, Johns Trail is part of a much bigger vision. Plans are in motion to extend and connect the trail to the larger Lancaster trail system, eventually linking Amanda to miles of regional pathways. What is now a hidden gem will one day serve as an important piece of Fairfield County’s growing trail network.
A 9-hole disc golf course weaves its way along John’s Trail bike path off Main Street, stretching south toward the lagoon along the old rail bed. Built on the path of a historic railroad, the course blends recreation with a touch of local history—where players now follow the same route once traveled by passing trains. With a mix of open throws and tree-lined fairways, it offers both a relaxing walk and a fun challenge for all skill levels. Keep an eye out along the way—you might spot wildlife near the lagoon or catch a peaceful glimpse of nature that makes every round a little different from the last. Whether you’re enjoying a leisurely stroll, a morning bike ride, or simply taking in the natural surroundings, Johns Trail is a perfect place to slow down and enjoy the journey—right here at home.
