Find unique, handmade gifts at Miss Molly’s in Lancaster

Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this business has closed.

The recently-expanded Miss Molly’s Mercantile & Confectionary is an ideal place to check off some Christmas lists and also satisfy a sweet tooth.

In November, two of Lancaster’s neighboring shops — one specializing in baked treats and the other in all-things handmade, joined forces after the two female owners became best friends.

All it took was knocking down part of an adjoining wall, allowing for one large shop to be filled top to bottom with artisan-made decor, household essentials with a fun twist, candles, jewelry, clothing, accessories, and of course, cupcakes.

With more than 50 local crafters and artisans, it’s the perfect place to find one-of-a-kind gifts this Christmas.

Here are our 5 favorite gift ideas available at Miss Molly’s this season:

  1. Soaps and bath bombs make great stocking stuffers and they’re customer-favorites at Molly’s. This season there are cute holiday-inspired bath bombs to choose from, including the Grinch (thankfully does not smell like garlic and unwashed socks).
  2. If you have a baby or toddler to buy for, car seat ponchos in fun prints are great. They’re the perfect combination of safe, warm and cute.
  3. Give a sentimental gift by taking a photo of a family heirloom with handwriting (Christmas card, note, diary — anything handwritten) to have the writing recreated and cut out in acrylic letters in a framed display. Pre-made and custom signs can be ordered at the shop or it’s Facebook page.
  4. Whimsical jewelry made from silverware. They’re beautiful and a great conversation piece.
  5. Take home cupcakes or a cookie plate for a holiday gathering or a little self-indulgence. The Confectionary has baked treats for sale and also takes custom orders.

Like the Confectionary, there are custom order options available from the artisans who make every item sold in the shop. To make things even more convenient, Miss Molly’s also takes orders through Facebook.

If a trip to Miss Molly’s inspires your own crafty ambitions, Miss Molly’s also offers classes, which are mostly on weekends. It can make a fun girl’s night out and the classes are always changing with new instructors and crafts. One week it’s knitting or sign painting, the next could be wreath-making and string art.

For more about Miss Molly’s Mercantile & Confectionary, visit their Facebook page, which also has class information. The store is located at 117 S. Columbus St. in Lancaster and regular hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday (closed Sunday and Monday).
