Dāna is a Sanskrit and Pali term meaning “generosity” or “giving.” We invite everyone of all ages, backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs to join us for a talk about this practice which is fundamental for those wishing to cultivate merit and good deeds. Dāna, which can be described as the act of giving out of generosity, is central to Buddhadhamma. When practiced well, we are able to reduce suffering and increase joy for ourselves and others by building merit and counteracting the negative effects of attachment, clinging and stinginess. Cultivating this practice leads to the purification of the heart. In this talk, SD Yogi will discuss the power of dāna and some practical ways in which we may incorporate this remedy into our daily lives.
This talk is applicable to all backgrounds and experience levels. No prior experience necessary – all are welcome!
