Description

Surrounding the Wagnalls Memorial Library, you will find gorgeous gardens.

The Walker-Hecox-Hickle Gardens were established in May 2016. The gardens were funded by the Lithopolis American Legion Post 677. Dill’s Landscape of Canal Winchester laid out the garden and put in the seasonal plants. The gardens also feature the rock sculptures and martin house built by Dr. Edward Roller, a beloved local doctor who formerly resided on the land where the 1992 addition now stands. He collected rocks from all over North America and used them to create bird houses, vases, and other structures.

The Fairfield County Master Gardeners and the Lithopolis Garden Club care for the gardens as well as volunteers from the community. In 2020, the Wagnalls Memorial Library introduced the Teen Garden Club, which is lead by the Master Gardeners with help from the library staff. The Teen Garden Club has since helped fill the garden with little fairy houses.
