Description
Built in 1870, this became the first hardware store in town in 1886. The business was operated by the John Henry Shoemaker family until 1969. Civil War soldier John Henry Shoemaker is seen at right. The building has since housed a variety of businesses including an amusement parlor, JD Wood Creations and Karen’s Doggie Day Spa. The Shoemaker family made their home next door at 22 W. Columbus Street in a house built by Samuel Shoemaker in 1884.
