Your Guide to Wands & Wizards Weekend in Fairfield County

It’s the most magical time of the year!  On August 10-12, enjoy a spell-tacular weekend and join local businesses as they celebrate all things enchanting and mystical with specials and events across Fairfield County.  Visit local restaurants to sample potions fresh from the cauldron, enjoy scavenger hunts to find fantastic creatures, or enroll in a class to create your own wand or magic orb.  The possibilities during Wands & Wizards Weekend are endless! 

Enchanting Events 

Events and wizardly specials will take place all three days, but be sure to make time to visit the Fairfield County District Library in Lancaster!  This seemingly ordinary library will transform into something straight out of a wizardly world.  The library will host Magician Rusty Ammerman, magical creatures courtesy of Ohio Nature Education, and Miami Valley Falconry. 

Wizard Faire is a brand new event happening the night of Friday, August 11 in Victory Park in Pickerington!  Explore this free, renaissance-inspired festival for all ages with games, crafts, food trucks, and vendors selling wand-erful wares! 

On Saturday, join Destination Downtown Lancaster for a special showing of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.  They will also be hosting a Potions & Pubs Bar Crawl that will take place at many of the local bars and restaurants downtown.  Participants will sample potions and receive a complimentary, custom shot glass designed by Gay Fad Studios.  

For those seeking a thrill, the castle-like Wagnalls Memorial Library in Lithopolis is hosting a ball on Saturday, August 12.  From 12-2 p.m., enjoy a family-friendly scavenger hunt to solve the case of the missing headmaster.  It’s up to you to use your magical sleuthing skills to solve the mystery!  There will also be costumed actors, crafts, magical bingo, photo ops, and buttery beverages at this magical event.

Wizardly workshops are around every corner during Wands & Wizard Weekend – enroll in a class to create a wand, a magical orb, or your very own cauldron.  Whether you’re finding dragons at Hartland Farm, creatures and cryptids at the Lancaster Camp Ground, or magical creatures and fairy houses in Pickerington, there’s something for everyone to discover!

Although Wands & Wizards Weekend is not a ticketed event, there are three different package options available for purchase to help elevate your experience!  If you did not purchase a package, you can still attend! Make the most of this magical weekend: 

• Very Important Professor (VIP Experience) –  This package includes a $5 food and beverage voucher for participating businesses, gifts from Happy Goat Bakery, STUMP, and Candy Cottage, plus Wands & Wizards merchandise, a VIP Wristband, and a goodie bag at check-in and more!

• Full Moon Friday (Overnight Package)  – This overnight package includes a one-night stay at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites, two $20 food and beverage vouchers for participating businesses, gifts from Happy Goat Bakery, STUMP, and Candy Cottage, a VIP Wristband, and a goodie bag at check-in and more! 

• Sorcerer’s Saturday (Day Trip Package) – This day trip package includes a customed designed glass from Gay Fad Studios, an exclusive plant workshop at STUMP, a $20 food and beverage voucher for participating businesses, Wands & Wizards Weekend merchandise, and more!

Fantastic Food & Drinks

With so many events to choose from, you may need to take an occasional break at one of the local coffee shops or bakeries offering sweet, wizard-themed treats and buttery beverages.
