Local History Through Women’s Lives

History of women

Description

History is often told through the lives of great men, but what about the women who shaped the communities and culture? Join the Fairfield County Heritage Association’s Executive Director, Wendy Gregory, for a compelling one-hour program that explores the rich and often untold history of local women at the Fairfield County District Library. Through the stories embedded in dresses, hats, jewelry, letters, diaries, and scrapbooks, they’ll uncover the hidden narratives of women who left lasting marks on Fairfield County’s past.
This program will be followed by a tour of the Georgian Museum, where you’ll have the opportunity to view exhibits dedicated to women’s history. Discover how these artifacts, from everyday items to personal mementos, offer a window into the lives and contributions of women throughout local history. Don’t miss this chance to see history from a new perspective and learn about the powerful women who helped shape the community! Register online, on our app, or by calling (740) 653-2745, extension 160. Doors open at 1:40, talk starts at 2, and the tour at 3.
