Description

October is the time to explore The Trail of Scarecrows in Fairfield County! Search and admire hundreds of scarecrows scattered throughout 14 communities in Fairfield County.

Businesses, groups, organizations, and residents create scarecrows on display all over the area. You won’t want to miss a single one of these cute and clever displays that celebrate the Autumn Experience throughout the month of October.

Every October, Fairfield County is the place to be for all kinds of fall fun.  How can you join in the fun and find the scarecrows? It’s easy! Check out the digital map available via the Visit Fairfield County app and click on the community name that you want to explore in the left column. This will show you a list of the scarecrows in that community and if you click on the “map it” icon, you can see them on a map for your convenience.

  • Are you up for a challenge? You can also download the Fairfield County app and take part in a super fun county-wide challenge! The app is a free download available for iOS and Android devices.

Once downloaded, open the app and select the town you want to find scarecrows in. You can click “Map It” to see where all the scarecrows are located.  Click “Check-In" and enter the code from each scarecrow name tag. Once you’ve checked in at half (or more!) of the scarecrows in that community, you can submit your completed challenge! Then, stop by the Visitor Center at 158 W. Wheeling Street in downtown Lancaster to pick up your prize.

Be sure to vote for your favorite scarecrow in every community. The scarecrow with the most votes in each community will win a $50 Visa gift card for the People’s Choice Award, sponsored by Visit Fairfield County.

Snap photos of your favorite scarecrows and post them on social media using #FCScarecrows. Like this event and share your pictures on the Fairfield County Trail of Scarecrows-Autumn Experience Facebook page.

If you're interested in registering a scarecrow, make sure to visit our registration page. Registration for the Trail of Scarecrows is open every August and September.
