January

Situated in the county’s northeast corner, Buckeye Lake State Park offers lake, land, and leisure, with 35 miles of shoreline and over 3,000 acres of water!  Known as the largest celebration around the lake, the Buckeye Lake Chamber of Commerce holds Winterfest every year on the last Saturday in January.  This unique tri-county event not only benefits local businesses around the lake during the off-season but also helps bring the community together in a unique way.  After joining Benny the Bass as he predicts an early spring or long winter, stop by Millersport Coffee to warm up with a cup and peruse local artists hosted by Earthly Pottery Co. Grab a breakfast burrito from Si Senor Mexican Grill at The Canal, a hot slice or sweet treat from LakeBound Pizza or Dockside Donuts, and top it off with a crafted cocktail from the Hereinafter Cocktail Tavern as they hold all-day food specials, live music, and more.

The party doesn’t end on Saturday!  Join the Buckeye Lake Winery as they hold the Annual Polar Plunge; sign up to dive into the cold waters of Ohio’s oldest state park and raise money for local charities while doing it.

Looking for something a little more relaxing?  Cozy up on the Covered Bridge Country Wine Trail, spanning over 500 square miles of Fairfield County.  Home to 15 original historic covered bridges (the most in any county in Ohio), pairing our amazing wineries and beautiful bridges together in one trail just made sense! Plan a getaway to experience a part of Ohio history and view some picturesque scenery, then relax with a nice glass of chardonnay, zinfandel, pinot noir, and much more at one of our many popular wineries.

Much like Punxatawney Phil and Benny the Bass, join Lancaster Parks and Recreation on February 2nd in Downtown Lancaster for Poppy the Skunk’s Prediction!
